365 / 31: A Post for 365’s Sake

This is really a cheating little blog post mainly to fill my requirements for Project365. Yes, yes, I know. Not really what you want to see but I am not ready to give up on my project yet!

The big problem that we are experiencing at the moment is the moving into our new house, which has required lots, and I do mean lots, of travelling and even some unpacking.

Another short one as home has now changed location. That’s right. We moved today. But it does not worry me where we are as long as my beautiful wife and kids are here with me.

The journey was 460 kilometers from our old town to our new town, and there a world of difference between them. From outback to beach.

Tubthumping Part 2

Now that I have told you one of my favorite songs I want I hear some of yours.

So leave a comment of your ultimate pick-me-up song and I will compile a playlist for everybody to see.

Are you brave enough to tell me?

Today’s post is going to be a short one. I was listening away to my iPod when I heard one of my older songs. It got me bopping along to it.

But then I listened to it and found that it was a profound little song. The song in question was Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. The singer sings abouy a man that has drinks but then remembers songs to remind him of the good times, the better times.

It got me to thinking about it. What songs remind me of the good times? Ironically, Tubthumping would be one of them.

My point is if you are feeling like the world is getting on top of you then dig out those favorite tunes and dance like no one is watching.

It will work if you believe in the power of music.

“I get knocked down but I get up again. You ain’t never gonna get me down.”

365 / 28: Grains of Sand

Are our lives like grains of sand? I prefer to think that my memories are. With that, I like to imagine those grains of sand scattered on my own private beach. Each grain that I pick up contains a memory that is played back to me.

It would be random. I would not know which memory that I would get and could be a good one or a bad one. But I know that each grain of sand, each memory, has brought me to the place I am today.

Each memory has made me. Turned me into the person that I am. Each has made me choose a direction and that has led me to here. Future memories will led me other directions as is the wont of life.

But for now I will walk on my beach feeling the grains of sand between my toes knowing that I have done the best that I could. I will not be insignificant and turn into a grain of sand to lay amongst the waste.

My life is to be lived and every so often I will walk this beach. Remembering. Feeling. Knowing. Loving.

365 / 27: Today is a Sad Day

Today is a sad day for me, as I am having to walk away from something that I put my heart and soul into. It has been a grand adventure but it proved to be one that could not sustain us. It all started some fifteen months ago as a way to learn something different.

Whilst the business does well, it is time for a new challenge, which leaves me feeling more than somewhat despondant by it all. I look around at my little shop and it is with a twinge of disaapointment knowing that it will be my final hours here.

365 / 26: The 365 Story Part 12

(Part 12 contains the beginning of an idea from Nae’s Nest where she asked me to do a commentary on random posting from the Project 365 group.)

But then Charlie felt a change in the wind current. The papyrus was lowering itself during this rotation. It seemed to be one a collision course with it, attempting to force its way inside the metal box. The old man’s hair whipped around as the papyrus streaked past him.
It hit the computer with the full force it had obtained. Paper snow and hieroglyphs filled the air yet again, but when the dust settled all that was left of the papyrus was tiny shards of air with the consistency of ash. It was no more.

What Do You Know?

There it is – my question for the day. What do you know that I do not? What can you tell me that is interesting, exciting or just plain fun?

Send me a link to something that fits the above categories and I will have a look. Saves me sitting here trying to do nothing constructively!!

Please. It can be about anything. I really do not mind and if I like them I may even mention them in a blog post of its own. So somebody out there, find something exhilirating for me, ’cause I’m running short of inspiration today. I know you can do it. I trust you all.

Don’t you wish that you could travel on the clouds? Just float away from it all and land in some other place to continue the enjoyment that is your life? Not worrying about where you are going but instead enjoying the traveling for its own reasons?

365 / 24: The 365 Story Part 11

(Part 11 written by me.)

The rocking stopped, unexpected and all of a sudden. It caused Charlie to suck in some breath in surprise. The air changed, became electrified. Something was happening and Charlie found it difficult to catch his breath as the air felt toxic, wrong.
It moved. Only a fraction, but Charlie could swear that it moved. He held his breath, waiting, but it took time and then it did it again. In the same direction, even if it was only by a fraction. Towards the old computer now running like a quantum computer, processing far beyond its capabilities. Continue reading
